Upton Farm is a beautiful heritage property - and I fear it is turning
into an industrial Bio-Commons! I wish I had some spring/summer pics
but I don't.
Development on this site is inevitable... So hopefully, with
some understanding of the importance this natural, heritage green space
has for so many people, there will be a preservation of the 1.5+ KM
trail with field, forest and river access! The comradeship of people
and the socialization of dogs keeps everybody happy! Just say the word
"Upton" in my house and Jasmine (the dog) get's all excited!
This might be
our only chance for input before significant decisions are made that
could curtail our off-leash use of this wonderful place!
The transfer of the land from the Government to the Upton Farm Trust has
now been completed and the farm has been designated as a Natural Area
under the Natural Areas Protection Act. The full NAPA document can be
seen at uptonfarm.wordpress.com, or www.uptonfarmlands.com.
Future
plans include off-leash dog park location and enhancement of the
property with hedgerows, tree planting and other plans. Consultant, Tina
Beers, will lead a discussion as part of the meeting, for the purpose
of gathering ideas and input, as we look to the future.
We
hope you will familiarize yourself with the NAPA agreement, as we are
asking for your thoughts and ideas to make this green space the best it
can be and for the enjoyment for everyone.
