FIRST ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
UPTON FARM TRUST INC.
MAY 31, 2012 AT 7:00 p.m.
at the
West Royalty Community Centre
The Upton Room
Lower Malpeque Road

Upton Farm is a beautiful heritage property - and I fear it is turning into an industrial Bio-Commons!  I wish I had some spring/summer pics but I don't.

Development on this site is inevitable... So hopefully, with some understanding of the importance this natural, heritage green space has for so many people, there will be a preservation of the 1.5+ KM trail with field, forest and river access!   The comradeship of people and the socialization of dogs keeps everybody happy! Just say the word "Upton" in my house and Jasmine (the dog) get's all excited!
Please attend the meeting below, or at least go online before hand, and post your comments about how you use the park, so they understand that dog walkers do NOT want to be boxed into a rectangular fenced in area, but need to have a walking area large enough to be enjoyable to humans as well as dogs, including the river.
This might be our only chance for input before significant decisions are made that could curtail our off-leash use of this wonderful place!

Let as many people that might be interested about this know!

The transfer of the land from the Government to the Upton Farm Trust has now been completed and the farm has been designated as a Natural Area under the Natural Areas Protection Act.  The full NAPA document can be seen at uptonfarm.wordpress.com,  or www.uptonfarmlands.com.
Future plans include off-leash dog park location and enhancement of the property with hedgerows, tree planting and other plans. Consultant, Tina Beers, will lead a discussion as part of the meeting, for the purpose of gathering ideas and input, as we look to the future.
We hope you will familiarize yourself with the NAPA agreement, as we are asking for your thoughts and ideas to make this green space the best it can be and for the enjoyment for everyone.
Agenda:
1. Welcome
2. Chairman's Report and Questions
3. Treasurer's Report and Questions
4. Discussion on Future Plans
6. Other business
7. Adjournment
PS. There will be opportunities before and after the meeting to purchase memberships in the Upton Farm Trust Inc. at an annual fee of $10.00 per person.
